Scars removed by a cosmetic surgeon can be markedly improved, especially at a distance from the trauma (accident or surgery).
Some scars may develop in an uncontrolled manner (keloid scars). Sometimes, a simple excision under local anaesthetic can prevent recurrence. Some recurrent keloids can be treated with surgery and radiotherapy. Combining the 2 treatments can achieve up to 90% satisfactory results.
