Dr. Elias
Specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgery
Born in Brussels, Dr B. Elias was admitted at the Catholic University of Louvain, where he continued his studies and completed a Doctorate in Medicine with the highest distinction.
Following a competitive academic specialty, he was ranked first and received a training position for a period of six years to specialize in Plastic Surgery. He completed his training at Saint-Luc University Hospitals in Brussels and at Geneva University Hospitals (HUG). He earned his Specialist degree in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in Belgium and its FMH equivalence in Switzerland.
At the request of Professor Brigitte Pittet, head of department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the HUG, Dr. ELIAS, plastic and aesthetic surgeon, joined her team in September 2004 as 1st senior physician. He has carried his collaboration continuously between January 2008 and December 2013 as Associate Doctor.
He took over the office of Professor Denys Montandon, one of the first worldwide well know swiss plastic surgeon and was asked to open another office at Clinique de Genolier, member of GSMN (Genolier Swiss Medical Network).
Dr Elias, plastic and aesthetic surgeon, takes part in Pregraduate education of medical students and postgraduate training of residents in Plastic Surgery. He teaches aesthetic facial plastic surgery including facelift, rhinoplasty, cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery. He continues to train plastic surgery assistants, in particular by enabling them to attend the procedures he performs in various Swiss private clinics. He takes part in Pregraduate education of medical students and postgraduate training of residents in Plastic Surgery. He teaches aesthetic facial plastic surgery including facelift, rhinoplasty, cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery.
In terms of reconstructive surgery, the HUG is one of the few Swiss university centers to perform microsurgical breast reconstruction without implants, using skin and fat from the abdomen. Doctor Elias teaches this meticulous technique.
Plastic and aesthetic surgeon Dr Elias created the lipodystrophy group with the infectious diseases and dermatology physicians at the HUG. He was also a consultant for vascular malformations.
He completed several months of further training in Aesthetic Surgery at several North American hospitals, including those in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Miami.
The Dr. ELIAS plastic surgeon of continuing education to present numerous scientific papers, notably at congresses of the Belgian, French, Swiss and European Societies of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. Last but not least, numerous articles have been published in his name in international scientific journals, including “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal”, “Obesity Surgery” and “Cancer Bulletin”.
Doctor Elias, plastic and aesthetic surgeon, is a member of various medical societies: FMH (Swiss Medical Association), Swiss Belgian Societies of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic, AMG (Medical Association of Geneva), ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgery), IPRAS (International Confederation of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery) and ISAPS (International Society of Surgery Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery).
