Injectable Fillers
Description
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) or fat are used to restore facial contours, fill the hollow areas (cheeks, malar bone) or reduce the appearance of lines and creases at the nasolabial folds, perioral wrinkles, and lips (volume). HA is resorbable in 8 to 12 months (lips, nasolabial folds) or 2 years (cheeks, tear troughs) depending on the treated area and type of product. Fat can also be harvested from the inner tigh or abdomen and injected below the skin surface to fill hollow areas and creases, or plump the lips and back of the hands. Swelling should dissipate in 2-5 days, or 1-2 weeks with fat injections. Injectable fillers produce temporary results, lasting a few months to several years or more, based on the filler used, treatment site and individual patient factors. When used properly, fat becomes a permanent filler. Some products may be permanent.
