Belly liposuction is performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on the volume of fat to be treated. It can be performed as a single procedure or in conjunction with a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty. The indication for liposuction alone is excess fat localized at the abdominal level without excess skin. Patients' weight must have been stable for at least 9 to 12 months prior to surgery. The result depends on each patient's skin type. Young patients who have not experienced significant weight changes are excellent candidates for abdominal liposuction. Les patientes ayant eu des grossesses doivent souvent bénéficier d’un geste d’abdominoplastie associé. The vibroliposuction technique is used by Dr Elias. It uses microcannulas 3 to 4 mm in diameter connected to compressed air and, after infiltration with cold adrenalin saline, enables pure fat to be aspirated with few red blood cells, while preserving all nerve and vascular structures. Compared with the conventional technique, the post-operative period after this technique is markedly less painful, with less oedema and bruising.
