    Rhinoplasty (Post-Trauma)

    Description

The intervention allows to modify the morphology of the nasal pyramid (either partially or in whole) and is also sometimes performed to correct problems with nasal breathing. It aims to reshape the nose to embellish, correct deformities, whether congenital, resulting from trauma or due to the aging process. The goal is to get a natural looking nose, harmonizing it with other facial features.
The procedure, performed as well on women and on men, can be performed at the end of growth, that is to say from about 16 years old.

    The intervention

The procedure is usually done under general anesthesia. It can be practiced in ambulatory, that is to say, in and out from the hospital on the same day, after several hours of surveillance. Depending on the circumstances, a short hospital stay may be preferable. The nasal cavity can be clipped with different absorbent materials. A dressing is made on the surface of the nose and a splint to maintain and protect with plaster is molded and attached to the nose. The procedure can last from 45 minutes to two hours.

    After the intervention

The postoperative period is rarely painful. The main inconvenience of the early days is quite impossible to breathe through the nose. Above the eyelids, some edema (swelling) and sometimes bruising (bruises) can appear, which magnitude and duration vary greatly from one individual to another. It is recommended to rest and make no effort during a few daya after surgery. The return to a normal professional and social life takes place within a few days (10 to 20 days depending on the size of the suitors ). Sports and violent activities are to be avoided the first 3 months.

    The result

Two to three months are necessary to have a good overview of the results, knowing that the final appearance will be obtained after six months to a year of slow and subtle evolution.
